FAQ's for musicians

How do I submit music?

Start here. ;-)

How does it work? How do I get paid? etc..

Should I make my music "free for non-commercial/educational use?"

We give you this option because it can be a good way to get exposure for your music. Of course, you won't earn any money when tracks are used for free. But we do ask that credit be given if your music is used. We also ask that cue sheets be filed if the music is used for broadcast, in which case you would be entitled to performance royalties. (Only the synchronization fee is free.)

Stock-Music.com keeps a separate listing of music that is available for free for non-commercial and educational purposes. In order for someone to download music in this category, they must first agree that they will only use it for non-commercial or educational purposes.

Making your music available in this way can help you build up a list of music placements: credits where your music has been used. Whenever your music is used for free, a listing will appear in your stock-music.com account home.

By choosing this option, you are helping non-commercial and educational institutions and individuals by letting them use your music for free. We would hope that these same individuals would appreciate your music and generosity and choose to use your music for commercial use if the need ever arose.

That being said, this is purely optional. You can pick and choose any number of your tracks to make available for free, or you may certainly choose not to. By default, none of your music will be available for free.
